Introduction: The Lore Behind the Blog

Hey, my name is Lore Scarlet!

A current picture of me. Yes, I do my own hair!
I'm a Professional Writing major with a minor in Literature here at OU, and I'm graduating this semester!

I'm an author, and I write Young Adult (YA)  Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance. I'm just finished writing my FIRST NOVEL*! It's a YA Urban Fantasy, with elements of Dystopian, that has vampires, and no, not like Twilight! (My vampires have fangs, don't glitter, and WILL attack you.)

*(If you want to be notified when my book is published so that you can read it, let me know in your comment and give me your e-mail or Facebook!)

I have a beyond wonderful boyfriend, David, and this October will be our 9-year Anniversary!

My boyfriend and I!
I love to read. My favorite YA book is The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black, and my favorite Adult series is the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton. I also enjoy reading about Mythology, my favorite being Norse Mythology.

I'm obsessed with Star Wars. I saw The Force Awakens in theater 3 times.

My boyfriend and I when we saw Star Wars on the opening night.

I'm obsessed with Kylo Ren and Boba Fett, and shamelessly own a LARGE amount of Star Wars merch.
Me with Kylo Ren (I wish.)

I love anime! My favorite anime are: Fairy Tail, Black Butler, Vampire Knight, Uta no Prince Sama, Attack on Titan, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Amneisa, and too many more.

I also love to cosplay. To read more about that, read about my favorite place: anime conventions.

My boyfriend and I cosplaiying at a convention.

My music taste is scattered. I like metal, dubstep, Korean pop music,  Japanese pop music, and Japanese rock music. My favorite band is Amon Amarth. (Who surprise, surprise, sing about Norse Mythology.)

I love to play video games. My all-time favorite games are: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (obviously,) Kindom Hearts, Skyrim, the Dragon Age series, the Mass Effect series, and the Fallout series.

I like to hula hoop dance! Don't know what that is? Check out the video below of me hoop dancing.

I love cats and I have two cats with opposite personalities. Indi is a goofy sweetheart, whereas Kiki is a grumpy cat who hates literally everyone in the world, but me.

My grumpy princess, Kiki.

My Pinterest Board for this class:
Nice to meet all of you, and I look forward to seeing all of your blogs! Let's have a great semester!

  1. It is fun getting to meet you again, Lore! And of course I had to watch your LED hoop video... again. So cool! And your grumpy princess does have that great "don't bother me; I'm busy... being a cat!" look on her face. We have two cats with really different personalities, and they don't really get along with each other, but we like them both, and since our house has a front porch and a back porch they don't even have to look at each other. Anyway, it is great to see you back in class and I am so excited to see where the Indian Epic stories will take you this semester! :-)

  2. Nice to meet your Lore!
I have never gotten into Star Wars, but it sounds like I need to at least watch one movie to see if it's something worth watching. :)
My best friend is really into anime, and sometimes she shows me her favorite stuff.
It all makes sense now seeing you are majoring in Professional Writing! Your story was very well written, and I am glad to hear you will be writing more permanently.

  3. That is awesome that you are an author! I am a terrible writer so hopefully reading your story will help with some of my writings. Congrats on graduating this semester! I have a year left and it couldn’t come any sooner. Also, Star Wars was AWESOME. I am definitely a fan of and cannot wait for the new ones to come out.
Well I am glad to meet you Lore! Good luck this semester!

  4. I am drunk in this post so feel free to ignore everything I say. I feel like that is an appropriate disclaimer.

So freaking cool blog layout! I love the surrealistic tones; vampires happen to be my favorite type of mythology more so from Anne Rice, so will look forward to seeing some of that coming in on your work.

    Fur babies are awesome!!

Star wars.... Did you see A New Hope? Yeah it was the new movie.

Love kitties myself. Had a full bred Persian for 14 years. he was so stupid but lovable.

anyway, the other person is here and wants to watch movies now. It was great seeing your wall!!!

  5. Hi Lore! It is really nice to meet you! I love star wars too, but I'm probably not as passionate of a fan as you are. I am graduating this semester too and it makes me somewhat nervous because I have enjoyed college so much and am not ready to leave. I wish you the best in the rest of this semester and after graduation.

  6. Hi Lore,

Wow, you have such a variety of interests and hobbies! I also love books -- on the YA scene, I was super excited when the huge dystopian kick started, because for a while that was my favorite genre. But now I don't have much time to read for fun. :/

Your cat looks so much like my friend's! But also like THE grumpiest cat ever, omg.

  7. First off, your cat is adorable even if she is a grumpy cat. Next, I think you have an interesting array of hobbies. I still have yet to see the new Star Wars movie myself, but I do plan on watching it eventually. I have a friend who is obsessed with Star Wars and he knows that is going to be Kylo Ren for Halloween! Anyways, congratulations on your relationship milestone. I look forward to reading more from you later.

  8. Hello Lore,
It is nice to meet you. Your theme for the blog looks great! The color combination fits perfectly. I haven’t heard much about professional writing major, but I want to congratulate you for your upcoming graduation and wish you all the best for your future career. I am excited for your Vampire YA. Your pictures makes this whole page interesting! I am excited to read more from you this semester.

  9. Hi Lore! Just doing some extra credit commenting and I decided to click on your blog. I found it so cool that you are a writer and seem so passionate about your writings. That is crazy that you have been with your boyfriend for 9 years. You seem to be a very unique person and I hope the best for you and literature career.

  10. Hello, Lore. I just finished reading your storybook. I liked it so much that I decided to stop by your introduction and learn a little bit more about who you are. I think it is awesome that you are publishing your own young-adult book. In my comments on your storybook I mentioned that it had the feel of a young-adult novel. Now I know why it does! So, you like dubstep? I too am a fan of electronic music. Lately I have been listening to an artist by the name of Frequency Dreams. He produces dubstep as well as a variety of other electronic music. Check him out on soundcloud if you have the time:

The songs "Stampede" and "Crystallize" really grabbed me, but all of his stuff is good.

  11. Hi Lore! I am so excited to meet a fellow Star Wars fan! I also saw the movie 3 times in theater, so if you want to talk theory let me know! That is awesome that you are a writer. I am not haha. It is definitely my weakest subject, so I applaud you! Your cats are awesome! I am a total dog person till my family got this cat that thinks it is a dog. She eats dog food, sleeps with the dogs, and is potty trained. It was nice meeting you! Congratulations on your book!

  12. Lore, I was really interested in checking you out because your name caught my attention. Lore is just beautiful! And what a great name for an author. That is awesome you just finished your first novel. Congratulations! I cannot believe that you and your boyfriend have been together for NINE years! That doesn't even seem possible with how young you two look. Anyway, you impress me very much for both of these reasons.

  13. Hi Lore,

Nice to meet you Lore! I hope to continue and read more about you! I am extremely interested in reading more of your stories especially since you’re are a writing major! I love your cat! At my job we have an abandon warehouse which is home to many stray cats! We try to cat and spay and neuter every stray we get! We feed them and we let them stay in the warehouse for as long as they desire! With a daily supply of fresh water and food. On good days they get rotisserie chicken!

  14. Hi Lore, it is finally nice to meet the person behind the stories that I have been reading. I don’t meet many people who are into cosplay, anime, and Star Wars! I grew up reading comic books, anime, and Star Wars. Did you watch the movies by chronological order or by release date? And were you able to make it to the Comic Con convention last year in Oklahoma City?

  15. Hi Lore. Your introduction post is pretty interesting. You have a lot of varied interests. Seems like you talked about things that you really enjoy doing like the hula hoop dancing. Nice video by the way, I notice that you have a whole channel devoted to it, hope you next video turns out great and good luck with the rest of the semester.

  16. Hello, Lore!

First, I adore your name! I have never met or heard of anyone else called that, and I think it will serve you incredibly well in the writing industry.
Congratulations on your novel! It is so wonderful that you are already so accomplished before ever graduating college. It sounds like you have worked very hard, and I’m sure you’ll reap the rewards soon. I would love to be notified when it is published.
No shame in seeing Star Wars in theaters three times! I saw it on three separate occasions, as well, and I cried unashamedly every time when my favorite character died (attempting to make this as spoiler-free as possible for anyone who has yet to see it).
MY CAT IS ALSO NAMED INDI. It’s such a great name!
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your semester!

  18. Hi Lore, it's nice to meet you! That's so cool that you are about to be published! I bet this class has been fun and interesting for you since you love to write so much. Maybe it will give you inspiration for your next book! I've never been to a cosplay convention but I have seen them. The amount of time and effort people put into those outfits is incredible! The hula hoop video was really cool too! I can only imagine how much time you put into practicing that! Have a great rest of your semester and good luck with your book!

  19. Hey Lore! Love the red hair! I thought about dying my hair light green once, but I got scared! That’s awesome that you’re already writing a book! I can imagine the writing techniques in this class have been fun for you to explore. Your hula hoop dancing video is super fun! I’ve never heard of anyone doing something like that!

  20. Hello again Lore!

You are such an interesting person! (In a good way). First off that is awesome you and David have been dating 9 years! I also have a huge Star Wars obsession. Unfortunately I didn’t go to the opening night. But I loved it all the same. I use to play a ton of video games when I wasn’t in college. I did play Mass effect, Skyrim, I tried Zelda on my 3DS, and I loved Assassins Creed.

    It was nice meeting you!

  21. Hey Lore!

Just taking a look back through your blog, and it still look awesome! I have to say it's probably my favorite. I don't think I ever answered your question, but I my favorite games probably RPGs. I love Skyrim, Fallout, Pokemon, Baulder's Gate, etc. I put like 30 hours into Fallout 4 in the first week it was out, in the middle of midterms... (worth it!) Anyways, congrats on getting your storybook featured. I'm going to have to take another look at that in a minute. I'm really excited!
